BEVERLYWOOD
BULLETIN- APRIL 28, 2023
MESSAGE FROM BHA SECURITY COMMITTEE
The
security committee, block captains and volunteers are working diligently to
help homeowners prevent home burglaries. Recently, there have been more break-ins reported than usual and rumors quickly spread only adding more fear. It is
important to differentiate between a robbery and a burglary to prevent rumors
that often hinder our security efforts.
In
California, burglary is considered a property crime and robbery is a violent
crime. Burglary involves a criminal breaking and entering a home, vehicle or a
structure. Robbery involves forceful
entry using fear, and threats demanding property.
None
of the recent crimes reported recently were robberies (violent crimes), but we
must continue to work together to prevent any type of crime in our
neighborhood. We are fortunate to live
in one of the safest neighborhoods, but unfortunately, criminals can target any
area.
MESSAGE FROM LAPD SENIOR LEAD OFFICER CHRIS BAKER
With the summer around the corner, I want to inform you about my
Vacation Check Program. This program has been designed to provide you with
peace of mind while you are away from your home on vacation or business travel.
The Vacation Check Program is a free service that I offer to all
residents within my basic car area. During the period that you are away from
your home, our officers will periodically check your property to ensure that
everything is secure and there are no signs of criminal activity. I will also
check to make sure that your doors and windows are properly secured and that
there are no signs of forced entry.
To participate in the Vacation Check Program, all you need to do
is send me an email at [email protected] with information about
the dates that you will be away from your home, as well as any contact
information that we may need to reach you in case of an emergency. Once I have
received your information, I will add your property to the watch list and will
begin conducting periodic checks.
Lastly, I will be away from my position starting April 22, 2023,
and I will return May 7, 2023. Officer Chris Pech will be filling in for me
during that time. His email is [email protected].
VACATION WATCH FROM POST
ALARM
In addition to this service from LAPD, our Post Alarm provides
vacation watch to all residents in Beverlywood. Log in to
Beverlywoodhoa.com. You will see a
connection to Post Vacation Watch. Click
on this, and fill out the provided form.
Information will be transmitted directly to Post’s dispatch, and
subsequently to the officers on patrol. Post Vacation Watch has a more frequent
presence than LAPD since their officers are dedicated to Beverlywood full-time.
OPEN BOARD MEETING
The next Open meeting will be held on Tuesday,
May 2, 20223. Attached is the agenda with the Zoom link which can also be found
on the BHA Website.
